When checking out a new church one of the questions people ask is “Do you have a place for me? A place to serve and make a difference?” We say “We’re glad you asked because we sure do!”
Each of our ministries gives you the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. We invite you to look these over, check out the ones that most interest you, give one a try.
This is an interdenominational ministry focused on helping to feed and clothe those in need. Many local churches and businesses come together to support this vital ministry. Lamar county is one of Alabama’s most underprivileged counties, so the need for this ministry is great. The Vernon Food Pantry serves some 250 – 300 families each month.
This is a program administered by the West Alabama Food Bank. One week a month brown boxes filled with a wide variety of foods are distributed to clients. Currently, this is the largest CSFP program in the district, serving some 130 families each month.
Our women’s group gathers once a month to make “port pillows.” These pillows are small and specially designed to help those receiving chemotherapy through a port in the chest. The pillows help cushion the tubing for patients. To date, the Women’s Circle has donated some 2,000 pillows to local cancer treatment centers. No sewing skills required, just come and help!
Life is filled with challenges. Sometimes these challenges lead us into spiritually and physically unhealthy behaviors. This ministry focuses on helping people effectively deal with a wide variety of issues from depression, anxiety, divorce, death of loved one, and alcohol and/or substance abuse. We meet every Monday evening from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall, entrance is on the side door next to our parking lot.
If you like fellowship, cooking, or serving others then this is a good place for you. Our monthly church breakfast is well attended. We need help cooking, serving, cleaning up, and eating of course!
At Grace Methodist we almost always have something going on. We have Easter Egg hunts, Valentines day competitions and dinners, Fourth of July celebrations, Vacation Bible School and Kids Summer Camp, Fall Festivals and other events. We would love to have you serving in any of these events.
